A new study reiterates the importance of a strong social media presence. According to tech research firm Gartner, social networks are expected to pull in $16.9 billion in 2012, which constitutes a 43% jump over 2011. Mashable breaks it down
“The bulk of that will come from advertising, which will contribute $8.8 billion. Social gaming revenue is next at $6.2 billion and subscriptions account for another $278 million. The researcher predicts “moderate growth” for the segment in coming years, though Gartner declined to share specific figures.”
The figures show social advertising is a huge piece of the online pie. According to Mashable, the Interactive Advertising Bureau pegged total Internet ad revenues at $31 billion in 2011. It’s a good sign that a social strategy is a crucial part of your company’s online marketing plan.
